Distracted Driving

Today is Friday, and so it's time to tell you a tale of woe, angst, or general frustration, by linking up with my BFF MiMi for her weekly meme:  F BOMB FRIDAY!  After you read mine, head on over to France, and link up yourself!

On Wednesday, Roon and I were going out for a romantic dinner (with kids in tow) to honor our anniversary.  Since we had celebrated last week, we basically used our actual anniversary as an excuse to not have to cook/eat what I had cooked.  First, we had to stop off at the store for a quick errand.
Walmart is right off a highway exit.  Technically, you have to break the law to get to it that way, by crossing over double white lines to get into the turn lane in time.  Some people would get off an earlier exit to avoid this problem, but most do not.  Roon is one, who does not.
On the way to the store, and as Roon prepared to exit, he noticed several patrolmen, so he decided to play it safe, and not switch lanes until he was beyond the double white lines.
As he exited, there was a police-person directly to our right.  He maintained a legal speed limit, as he passed the patrol car.  Slowly, the car began to drift into our lane.  Roon sped up to try to get past the car.  As he does, the patrol-person drifted further and further into our lane.  Almost hits us.
As Roon sped up fast enough to pass the renegade cop, I look over and see that this policewoman was on her cell phone.

Apparently she had not signed Oprah's "No Phone Zone" pledge...

I ALWAYS see cops doing stupid stuff while they drive.

Once, I even saw a police officer who was sitting at a red light, finally turn his siren on, and go through the intersection, then immediately turn it off. he was just sick of waiting at the light!

Oh that's nice. I bet it makes you feel better about making illegal turns. Gotta love cops.

Stopping by from F bomb Friday.

Oh yeah. Love when cops think they are above the law.

Idiots.

Unfortunately I have seen that way too many times...awesome.

That stuff really irritates me. I've seen em use their lights to get through intersections too.
We passed a law in Oregon, (well, I didn't, the people in charge did) that says we can't talk on the cell and drive. But still, I have seen cops doing it. :(

Perhaps you could have signaled for her to pull over and made a citizen's arrest. Charges: wreckless endangerment. Of course, then she might have ticketed you for something else...

When we were in Utah we totally almost called the police on this driver that was drifting all over the road. It was a highway patrolman.
