Where's Ashton Kutcher?!

Do you ever get the feeling you're being Punk'd?  Like, REALLY Punk'd?

As in, you find yourself in the middle of a volitile situation, and you have NO idea how it happened?

It happens to me far too often.

I have a theory about drama.  People who SAY they hate drama, are the biggest drama queens out of everyone.  If you ever meet someone, and within your first 3 conversations with them, they mention the word "drama" and how much they HATE drama...RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!  SAVE YOURSELF!  I'm serious.

Let me be the first to say, I can appreciate a little drama.  Sticking my nose in my friend's business?  Don't mind if I do!  Somebody do something negative to any of my family or friends?  BRING IT!

Nobody messes with a mama bear and her cubs, so to speak.

HOWEVER...there have been times when I've been completely taken off guard by the tidal wave of drama that I find myself in.

For example...
My brother-in-law "S" is from Ghana.  A pure African.  Great guy.  He is VERY dark.

("S" is the one on the far left)

A few years ago, one of my little brothers was getting married.  I THINK it was my littlest brother, which would have made this 2007.
After the reception, I was standing around outside (at night), talking with my dad, sister, and whoever else was within earshot.  Somebody asked me if I had seen "S".  I hadn't, but I scanned the crowd, silhouetted against the night sky.  I spotted "S", and pointed him out to the individual looking for him.

Somebody, (I think it was my dad, but I'm not entirely sure) said something along the lines of "Oh!  I didn't see him there!"
To which I replied "Well, he does kind of blend in with the dark background."

I meant no harm.  I was making a simple statement of fact, to explain why someone who was just as far away from "S" as I was, wouldn't have been able to spot him.

That is NOT how it was received.  My sister AND my dad unleashed a tirade against racism on me, that did not stop until I fled the area in tears.

I would have really appreciated Ashton Kutcher entering at any time.  Surely, I could not have deserved such retribution for a simple observation, right?

Bottom line:  You should all be grateful you only know me through blog land.  I should carry around my own safety cones, because I am a MAGNET for drama.  Do I like it?  No.  But, I seem to have stepped in yet another pile of it.

Since Ashton hasn't shown...maybe I'm on Candid Camera???

Wow. That was blown way out of proportion.

Yes in a perfect world where there isn't racism that comment wouldn't have been thought twice about, it was a simple observation. But yes definitely did not deserve any backlash. And if the drama is what you mentioned on facebook, again so sorry for that :(

I'm sorry but I laughed when you felt the need to point out which one he was in the picture. :) I imagine since you wrote this that he probably has a bit of a sense of humor about it too.

My family accuses me of being a drama queen. I hate that. It's like I don't even get a chance to be anything else before they accuse me of being dramatic. :(

I hate when crap like that happens. My hubby and one of his brothers were complaining about the other brothers girlfriend. I stated, "it's his life, leave him alone". My at the time 5 year old heard a portion of the conversation and told her Uncle "nobody likes "M" and my Mommy said you need to get a life". Well you can only imagine how well that went over! DRA-MA!

that was soo blown up!!! i know a guy just like that and the SAMEthing happened to my old step mom and you know what she does turns to him and laughs and says "I didn't even see you there until you smiled!!" He laughed i'm pretty sure he knew he kinda blends in; just like we blend in, in the snow lol!

Oooh! I hate drama! Wait!!! Don't run! I am not one of those people! Really! I am not. I say that because I have had so many friends who attracted (and loved so they sometimes created) drama, that I do all I can to stay away from it. It isn't worth the brain power, or the hassle or anything else. Drama is just lame... unless it is up on stage and I am paying to see it. But of that kind, I mainly only like the comedy, so what are you going to do.

I also thought it was funny that you had to point out which was your brother in law. Fairly obvious, I thought.

And I think it is so sad that people are so sensitive that a simple and natural observation cannot be made without people getting huffy and calling it racism. I have known people blending in with the snow before, and that isn't called racist... sorry, you hit a soapbox of mine. :) Good luck getting rid of that drama.

It's a good thing we don't live in the same state, girl. I do this crap all the time. Accidentally.
We would have the entire state hating us!

Sami, I know you out of blogland :P
You know I hate drama (and you know I'm also probably the least dramatic person ever).

I laughed when you pointed out "S" in the picture, too :)

That was blown way out of proportion, and I'm sorry it happened to you :( You didn't deserve that. I'm sure ALL of us at some point have said a completely innocent remark that was taken the opposite way we intended.

I'm curious as to what drama you have floating around you now? Stupid drama! I should say I am actually glad to be too busy for drama! Although, I would take some drama if I could slow down for a bit! Not that I'm asking for drama!!!

Girl, I lub me some drama. We could be GREAT friends. And seriously....you didn't do anything wrong.

But thanks for pointing him out in the picture by saying he was on the left. When you said he was dark, I still couldn't quite find him. Whew.

Laughing! Out! Loud!! I seriously find myself in those kinds of situations ALL THE TIME! And you know what's worse? The people that cause the most drama for me actually read my blogs - then cause even MORE drama about them!!!! Part of the reason for my 2nd blog is that I can say what I want without them screaming at me!!! (well, that's the intent anyway...)

Oh poo on people. It's not like your were saying anything really bad. I tend to get myself in trouble sometimes too without meaning anything by it.

I'd love to know you in person! Bring on the drama!

I think his color is gorgeous! I love dark dark skin!

I love that you narrated where to find him in the picture!
I love that you said that anyone who says they hate drama are the biggest creators of it... that is SO TRUE!
I tend to say things like you said, but totally never mean them the way they are said. Nothing pisses me off more then when people don't back off teasing when they can tell that they have gone to far. My family does that to me all the time.
So what's up? Is everything ok? Is there another Punk'd situation going on? I hope everything is ok. :)
