You're Not Cool...Unless You Knew This Quote!

It literally fills my heart with joy, that I was not the only woman who could quote this month's movie!  I'm sure that Roon also thanks you for proving him right...this time.
I did start to wonder after the quote was posted for 2 days, if I was going to have to just call it on account of lack of participation, and give Emmy the crown, but then Evelyn swooped in, and made it a fight to the finish.

Before we put these two awesome ladies out of their misery, let's go over the answers, shall we?

The Movie:

Character:  Billy Madison
Actor:  Adam Sandler
Line Before:  Ernie: "Cut it out dude your gonna get us in trouble."
Alternate Quotes:  There are so many that we use, but the ones we use most often are as follows...
"Don't tell me my business, Devil Woman!"
"If peeing your pants is cool, consider me, Miles Davis."
"Don't put it out with your boots, Ted."
"Nobody's gots to know about it, it can be our milk..."
"I can't hear you, I've been physically abused in the ear!"

"...At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. "

"A simple wrong would have done just fine."

Okay, seriously...I could go on, but those are used around here quite often.

So, when all the entries were in, it looked like this:

And, according to random.org, the winner is:
Which means that the winner is...EVELYN!!!  Congratulations girl!  I still have your address, so I will get your prize package in the mail ASAP.
Thanks so much for playing, ladies!

8 is LATE!

Eons ago, I was tagged by the wonderfully hilarious Shawn for the "8" meme.  The questions have been sitting in my drafts folder, most likely getting stale, but I always try to follow the rules when tagged for something, so here it goes...

1. If you could go to one place, all expenses paid, where would you go?
Hands down, that would be Australia.  I'm not sure why, but I've wanted to go there ever since I was a kid.  Could have had something to do with my HUGE obsession with the movie "Grease", and my love for the way "Aussies" talk, but whatever the reason...it tops my list.  I was SO jealous when I saw THIS Monday on Oprah.
2. Do you coupon? {I have friends that save a ton and I just can't figure it out} If you do what are your secrets?
I don't...yet.  I imagine that once Bubble and Bug hit middle school, it will become a necessity as they try to eat me out of house and home, but right now...I just don't seem to have the time to devote to it.  I have friends who do it, and have built quite the food storages as a result, but I guess my brain just doesn't work like that.  I think to REALLY be able to do it, I'll need Roon's help.  He's definitely got more of a math brain than I do.
I will clip the occasional coupon for Pull Ups or dog food, but for the most part, I just buy what I need, when I need it.
3. If you had one thing to do over what would it be and why?
I probably wouldn't have had a boyfriend my senior year of High School.  My boyfriend "Sume" was a few years older than me, and had already graduated, which meant that I didn't get the whole experience of being asked out to a dance, and then going.  I never went to Prom, Homecoming, or any of the other random dances throughout that year.  My Senior Year was so much more lame than it should have been.
At least I know from experience how to discourage my daughters from making the same mistake.

4. Are you an organized clean freak or a less than tidy "tomorrows another day, it can wait" kind of girl? What does your house look like right now?
Right now, my house looks a little worse than "lived in".  Because of our bathroom remodel, there is evidence of construction everywhere, especially since we're doing the whole thing ourselves.  Normally, I am a "keep it clean enough that I don't gross out the Orkin man" kind of girl, and will often get fed up with clutter, and go on a day long cleaning rampage probably once a month.  I'm a work in progress.  Let's just say that progress is slow, but steady.  I aspire to be as neat as my sister, Boogs, but it gives me a glimmer of hope knowing that not even SHE was always neat.  I know.  We used to share a room.
5. Toilet paper...Over or Under ? And, are you compulsive enough to change it somewhere else {I am}?
OVER!!!  Funny thing is, I didn't know I had an opinion about this, until about a year and a half ago.  My mom was here helping me out, and she brought to my attention that my toilet paper was "facing the wrong way".  See, she is equally as passionate about it going UNDER.  It was never really a fight, because I used my own bathroom, but once she left, we turned all the TP around.  And all was right with the world...
6. You're talking to a group of people and someone has something in their teeth or their nose. Do you tell them, ignore it or excessively rub your tongue over your teeth or run your finger under your nose until they get the hint?
I guess this would depend on how well I know the person.  If I know them well, I will flat out tell them.  If I am acquainted with the person, I would probably do something a little more subtle, but if I didn't know them at all, I would probably just ignore it.  That makes me horrible, doesn't it?
7. You're out and about and you see a friends husband with another women. What do you do? Address him on the spot, call him the next day and give him an ultimatum or tell your friend?
I think this would depend on the circumstances of the encounter.  If I saw them in a passionate embrace, I would DEFINITELY do something.  Probably with an email or phone call after the fact, because I suck at face to face confrontation.  If it seemed innocent enough, and the friend was a good friend, I might go up and say hi, and see if he seemed weirded out.  I wouldn't assume there was something shady going on, unless I caught them in the act.
8. What is the best piece of advice you've ever gotten? What was it and who gave it to you?
Not so much sure this could be considered advice, but my favorite quote that I repeat to myself often is "I would rather be, the best ME that I can be, than a cheap imitation of someone else."  It's what helps me to stay genuine and true to myself.  I think I learned it in a church lesson when I was fairly newly married.

So, now I'm supposed to tag 8 people with 8 new questions.  The problem is, most everyone I know has already been tagged.  I think I'll tag as many new people as I can, and invite anyone else who wants to answer them to do so.
My 8 questions:
  1. Do you collect anything?  What is it?  If not, do you WISH you did?
  2. What room in your house would you most lke to remodel?  Would your answer change if soemeone else was paying for it?
  3. What is your LEAST favorite chore?  Do you hate it enough to get a maid to do it, or are you too anal for that?
  4. Have you ever broken a bone?  What, and how?
  5. Music.  Do you have a go to album that you play to get you motivated, or do you just blare the radio, and pray that something peppy comes on?
  6. How do you keep track of your schedule?  Old fashioned calendar?  Set alerts on your phone?  Fly by the seat of your pants, and pray you don't forget a Parent/Teacher conference?
  7. Cooking, baking, or neither?
  8. Are you brand name specific, or are generics just as good?  What is one product you would NEVER replace with a generic brand?
Now, the 8 people I'm tagging are:
  1. Hanging By A Silver Lining (I just love her!)
  2. Brooks: Outnumbered
  3. All4Speakers
  4. BeckyJune
  5. Mom Has the Mondays
  6. Mamarazzi
Okay, so I can't count.  Sue me.  If you WANT to answer my questions, let me know, and I'll add your name to the list as being tagged.

Social Faux Pas

♪ ♫ It's my most, favoritest part, of the WEEK! ♪ ♫
I'm linking up with MiMi today, for her F-Bomb Friday!  I've actually got a twofer for ya.  What can I say?  This week has been awesome.
After you read mine, head on over to visit the lovely Emmy, who is hosting, and link up.   While you're there, look around!  After all, only the coolest of people have "zippers"!

I'm usually pretty good with people.  I can normally read social cues, and am usually pretty perceptive so as not to be accused of being oblivious when faced with a social situation.
Like I said...usually.
Tuesday began my routine of volunteering at my children's school.  I LOVE to do it.  I trade babysitting with my good friend Baub, so we can each be child free for several hours a week, to actually be helpful, as opposed to disruptive.
I met Sissy's teacher, received my assignment, and headed to the second grade work room, to concentrate on my task.
Within minutes, a confused woman I had never met before entered the work room, and asked if I was going to be working in there.
I informed her that I would be, but that it wouldn't be very long, and that I wouldn't take up much space.
"Well...I need to pump.  I'm nursing."
I, having given birth to and nursed 4 babies, gave a knowing nod.
This is where my intuition would normally have kicked in, but it had apparently taken the day off.
I told her that she wouldn't bother me in the least, and that I would even happily turn to face the other direction if needed.
"Oh, I wouldn't do it with you in here!  I'm WAY too modest for that!"
*Forehead slap*
As soon as I heard her response it hit me that not everyone is like me.  You see, not even considering my past maternal experience, I am also a life long cardiac patient.  Embarrassment over a little "northern exposure" has never been an option for me.  Every nurse, doctor, med student, and occasional ill timed maintanance worker I encounter has seen some boobage. I don't even think about it, or I would probably be embarrassed.  In addition, I was a Certified Nurse Assistant in high school, and I have seen many a naked person.  It just doesn't bother me.
So, I imagined a few choice expletives in my head, and tried to hide my flushed cheeks over my little social faux pas.  Apparently, I was now the mom at the school who would invite random strangers to flash them.  Awesome.
Hello, my name is Sami, and I'm a pervert.
Excellent.

My second F-Bomb moment?
Roon and I went to install our new sink in our newly remodeled bathroom.  Remember, the one that cost roughly $380?  Take it out of the box, admire it's beauty, place it on the vanity, and...IT DOESN'T FIT!!!  Instead of leaving a 1/2" lip around the 3 sides, like the granite guy had told us, they left a 1" lip around the 3 sides.  They cut it wrong, and it doesn't fit.  Luckily, we can take it back, and reorder it, but that means another 2 weeks of waiting to complete our bathroom makeover.
A bathroom doesn't really NEED a sink, does it???

You Can Do It...YouTube Can Help.

For the handful of you who noticed my absence this past week, please accept my most sincere apologies.  I wish I could say that I had been jet setting off to some foreign land, to have a romantic getaway with the hubs, but that would be a big fat lie.  Truth is, I was home.  My SIL came for a visit to keep me company while Roon jet setted off to Orlando to bask in the joy that was some computer conference.  I did not envy him at all.
Before my SIL arrived, Roon and I planned several home improvement projects that we wanted to accomplish while she was here.  I had mistakenly thought that I was a laid back person, and as such, would be able to relinquish control of my day to day chores to a helper, so I could concentrate on my bigger remodeling projects.  I was wrong.  One of the ugly truths I have learned about myself, is that I'm kind of a control freak...who knew?!  I thought I was only picky about my laundry, but turns out...I'm picky about just about everything.  I almost felt bad for my SIL, because I was constantly beating her to the punch, and then telling her that I had everything under control.
Some unexpected circumstances caused my SIL to have to go home 3 days early, only 1 day after Roon returned home.  So much for getting our projects done...
Friday night, we started our big bathroom renovation.  YEAH!!!  The looks of shock and horror on our children's faces as we hauled the toilet out to the garage, were priceless.
"We not doe-ing to have a potty anymore, Daddy?!"  was Bug's worst nightmare.
When we also removed the pedestal sink and mirror, leaving the room completely void of anything resembling a bathroom, I thought he was going to have an aneurysm.
"What did you do dat for?!"
Aside from the joy that it brings me, being able to expose my children to the same do-it-yourself mayhem that I was exposed to as a young-'un, there is also one other reason I love being involved in the remodeling process.
YouTube videos.
I now have permission to comb the internet looking for useful (and slightly entertaining) home improvement videos!
From the New Jersey native who taught me how to install my new floor, to the countless tile people who basically contradicted each other, and finally to the random man who showed Roon how to remove a toilet (without ever actually removing it), we couldn't do it without you!
As our bathroom makeover reaches the halfway point, there is only one question that comes to mind...
Is it too late to hire a contractor?

A Quick Hello

Hello!
I am desperately missing my bloggy friends right now, but I feel weird blogging while I have company.  My Sister in Law is in town to keep me company while Roon is away on business this week.

Stupid Florida!  I hope you know what an awesome guy you stole from me!

-On the bright side, since we've had company, Roon taught our Primary class by himself on Sunday so I could attend the adult classes with my SIL.  It had been a long time.  I really enjoyed myself.

-Before Roon left, we were working like crazy to get a large vinyl order done.  And, we did!
I love marking stuff off my to do list!

-I am pretty sure I broke my toe when I went out to get the recycling bin this morning.  Turns out, a rain slicked driveway, and flip flops are not a good mix.

-It has been raining here for 2 days, with no end in sight.  I'm beginning to wonder if I should build an arc.

-I've decided that I adore unlimited texting.  My sister and I communicate via text to avoid using our minutes, and I have recently begun texting some of my bloggy friends.  It makes me happy.  I love it!

Wow!  This sure turned into a bit of a lame-o post about nothing.  Sorry about that!  I feel all muddled and out of my normal routine.  I shall be back to my normal self in a few days.  Until then, have you decided what you're going to do with TOOTSIE ROLLS this month?  I think I've figured out a prize for each monthly creative genius...maybe.
Happy Hump Day All!!!

Naive? Oblivious? Lucky?

Sometimes on Friday I have to think really hard of an experience from my past in order to link up with MiMi for her F Bomb Friday.  Then there are weeks like this week, when I have 3 "mini bombs" that I have trouble picking from.  So, you get all 3!  Please control your excitement...

Naive?  Yes.
Roon and I are redecorating our half bathroom.  I spent a couple weeks on the phone and exchanging emails with my little sister, getting her expert opinion about how best to do it.  We formulated a plan, after pricing things online, and went to Home Depot to make our purchases.  We already knew we were going to have to special order our vanity top, and budgeted based on the average cost of the size and basic material we would need.  After sitting down with our "granite guy", and giving our specifications, he gave us the price.  $380.  What the flip?!  Our new vanity PLUS most of the other materials didn't cost that much combined!  As Roon would say:  "I hope it comes with a hundred dollars taped to it!".

Oblivious?  Yes.
Yesterday, when Sissy and Bubble got home from school, Bubble grudgingly admitted that he had been on "Yellow" that day (discipline system...Black:  Excellent, Green:  Good, Yellow:  Warning, so on and so forth).  If my children are on anything less than Green, they have at home consequences.  After a fair amount of discussion, we decided that being grounded from his DS for the evening would suffice.  As bedtime approached, and Roon was upstairs with the kids, I heard Roon tell Bubble that he didn't think Bubble should be doing something.  I didn't hear the whole thing.  Then Roon hollered down to where I was working on the computer, to ask if Bubble was supposed to be playing on the DS.  Why does this make me oblivious?  It is stored in a drawer that is not even 6 feet away from where I was sitting, that's why!  What the Heck?!

Lucky?  Not so much.
Remember a while ago when I posted THIS STORY?  For those who read my blog regularly, and don't want to click and read the story, it's the one involving "Slapstick" and my not so flattering nickname.  I received an email yesterday informing me of my monthly visiting route.  Take a wild guess who I get to go visit now...
Great.  Just, great.

Go link up with MiMi!  I mean it!
