And the Award Goes to...

I'm going to go ahead and make this really short and sweet.  I was SUPPOSED to announce the winner on Friday, but I never got around to it.

But, as usual, here are the answers to this month's Quince Quote...

THE MOVIE:

CHARACTER:  Johanna Staton, or "Annie"

ACTRESS:  Goldie Hawn

LINE AFTER:  "But Honey,We LIKE you..."

OTHER QUOTES:

"What a HORRIBLE wig."

"Stop staring at me!  Eat your checkers."

"Roy?"

"Mmm Hmm Mmm"  (In response to the question of whether or not she still had feeling for Billy)

Oh my goodness, there are SO many more, but I'll leave it at that.

When the entries closed, it looked like this...
Over the weekend, Roon and I were playing a little game of tug-o'-war over the laptop, and he apparently closed the browser that was open to my random.org page, so I don't have photographic evidence of the winner.
BUT the winner was #18, I promise.
So, that means that Xazmin is the winner!
CONGRATULATIONS!

I think I broke some kind of record, in that I made Xazmin's bowl at the same time I made Emmy's (That's right, they're DONE!) so you ladies should be watching for your prizes in the next week or two.

Thanks for playing, everyone!

¡Feliz Ano Nuevo!

For all of you who don't know why I would be addressing you in Spanish, you are obviously new here.

You see, on the 15th of every month, I hold a little contest called Quince Quote.  If you want to know more, click on the "Quince Quote" tab, and read all about it.

According to my calendar, TODAY is the 15th, which means it's PARTY TIME!!!

Now, before I give you this month's quote, I just want to warn you that things may be changing around here a bit.  I came to the realization that I am an over-achiever.  Up until this point, all the of the prize packages have included a completely personalized popcorn bowl, which added to my ever growing to-do list every month.  A very wise friend pointed out, that I could make things easier on myself by offering a more generic popcorn bowl instead, and I must say I agree!  Don't worry.  If we're really close friends, or your name is incredibly clever, I may still do something personalized.  I just don't want to burden myself, as I'm trying to make things easier on myself this year.

Don't get sad!  I said things MAY be changing.  We shall see...

It's still a prize worth winning.  FOR SURE!

So, without further adieu, this month's quote is...

" I don't belong here! I feel it!  Don't you think I feel it?!  I can't do any of these vile things and I wouldn't WANT to! Oh, my life is like death! My children are the spawn of hell, and you are the devil."

Here are your chances to win:

5 Entries-  BLOG about my giveaway!
3 Entries-  Follow my blog!
3 Entries-  Like "Symmetry In Motion" on Facebook
1 Entry-  Name the movie the quote came from.  (A correct answer is REQUIRED to get any entries)
1 Entry-  Name the character who delivered the quote.
1 Entry-  Name the actor/actress who played the character.
1 Entry-  Name the quote delivered immediately BEFORE, or immediately AFTER the quote.
1 Entry-  Deliver an alternate quote from the same movie.  Make me laugh, and you get a bonus entry!       (This is unlimited, so if you really know the movie well, you can really get an edge on people...)

I will keep this open until January 20th at 11:59 pm Central time, and will announce a winner sometime on the 21st.

GOOD LUCK!

You can leave more than one answer in a single comment.  I'm going to make my spreadsheet anyway, so you may as well make it easier on yourself.  Also, if you can get multiple entries...PLEASE only leave ONE comment for them.  There is no need to leave 5 separate comments for blogging about my giveaway, for example.

2 is Better than 1, and 4 is Better than 2.

You all know that I love a good contest, right?  Of course you do!

Well, I was in the mood to play a game on the 24th, while making my spreadsheets for this month's (and next month's) Quince Quote competition.  SO I posed the question:  "How many TOTAL entries will I have with both months combined?"

The prize would be another favorite Christmas movie of mine.

Several of you placed your bets, and while nobody got the answer exactly right, I decided to give it to the person who came closest without going over.

The answer, was 238!

The winner, with a guess of 201, was SARAH CARDELL!!!  Congratulations!

So, what does she win?

Make sure to "like" me on Facebook, so you can have a chance to win an impromptu prize too!

Now, onto the answers for the month(s)

First:  November.

The Movie:
Character:  Jack Calahan
Actor:  Bill Pullman
Line Before:  "Ugh!  I don't want any flowers from you, I'm not wearing black underwear, and I definitely do not want to move in with you, Joe...Jack!"
Line After:  "I thought you were Joe Jr."

Alternate lines:  "So he's a charming man, very classy..."  "Who just stepped in doggy poopy."

Once all the entries were put into my trusty spreadsheet, they looked like this:

(Click it to make it bigger, if you need to...)

And the winner is:
Which means that EVELYN is the winner!  Congratulations!

Now, since Evelyn has already won Quince Quote, (in fact, she JUST won it in September) this means that the prize PACKAGE is still up for grabs.
Let's move on to December, shall we?

The DECEMBER movie was...

Of course!

Character:  Mr. Parker
Actor:  Darren McGavin
Line after:  "Uh, I think that says FRAGILE, dear."

Alternate lines:  "I can't put my arms down!"  (I cannot believe that NOBODY gave this line.  I use it all the time!)
"You used up all the glue, on purpose!"

Again, I put this in my trusty spreadsheet, and when I did, it looked like this...

(Again, click it to make it bigger, if you can't see...)

Random.org did my dirty work, and crowned:
Which means that EMMY won the package!  CONGRATULATIONS!

But, Emmy included a disclaimer.  She already had BOTH movies, and was only in it to win the bowl, and other goodies, so I opted to pick one more winner, to receive JUST THE MOVIE.  Winning the movie only would NOT disqualify the winner from later winning the prize package, so no worries.

I set random.org to work again, and the winner of the MOVIE is:

HEATHER!

Congratulations to all my winners again!  I think I have all of your addresses, so just keep an eye out for your packages in the mail within the next couple of weeks.  If you don't already "like" me on Facebook, DO IT NOW!  You never know when I'm going to feel the winds of generosity a' blowin'!  PLUS, I'm going to post what I get in my 12 days of Christmas swap package EVERY DAY over there.  You're not going to want to miss that!
Regular Quince Quote will resume in January.  It's gonna be a good one...

Forgetful Quote

Have you ever had a day where you go blissfully through it, even signing and dating a form, without ever really noticing what day it is?  That happened to me on Monday.

Monday, as the rest of you probably realize was the 15th.  Around here, the 15th is usually a pretty big deal.  After dinner was all cleaned up, and the kids were in bed, I went into the kitchen, where Roon was looking ever so sexy wiping off the counter, and  simply said "it's November 15th".  He responded with an "Oh crap."

THEN he suggested I just skip it this month on account of it being the Holiday season and all.

You know I can't do that!

BUT I also don't want to stress myself out, since I am hosting Christmas for my side of the family this year, and Sissy is turning 8 the day after Christmas, and in our church, that is a BIG deal.

SO...I came up with a compromise.
2 movies (1 November, 1 December), 2 winners, but only one prize PACKAGE for me to assemble.

Many of my readers have already won a Quince Quote package from me, so I thought you all might enjoy a chance to win JUST A MOVIE for once.  Wouldn't you?

Here's how it will work:
2 separate quotes will be given.  You will answer the same questions, or do the same things for each quote.  I will make my spreadsheet (like I always do) for EACH quote.
I will then use random.org to draw winners, starting with the "November" quote.
IF the person who wins the November movie has never won before, they will win the PACKAGE.  If they have won before, they will win just the movie.
Then I will draw for December.  If the package is left, the winner could win the package, provided that they have never won a Quince Quote before.  If they have, I guess I don't have to make another bowl until January...
Regular Quince Quote will resume in January.
Why only 1 chance for a package?
Because December's movie costs more than I normally spend on the winning movie.  That's why!

Now onto the fun stuff...

NOVEMBER:
"Well, I don't have any flowers, I wouldn't mind seeing the black underwear, but under the circumstances, I don't think we should move in together."

DECEMBER:
"Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian."

Here are your chances to win:

1 Entry-  Name the movie
1 Entry-  Name the character who said the quote.
1 Entry-  Name actor/actress who played character
1 Entry-  Quote line delivered before or after the quote.
1 Entry-  Quote another line from the movie.  (This is unlimited!  Make me laugh, and get a BONUS entry!)
5 Entries-  Blog aout it!
3 Entries-  Follow me!
3 Entries-  "Like" Symmetry in Motion on Facebook.

You can leave one comment containing all of your guesses for EACH movie if you would like.  I'm going to make my spreadsheet anyway, so we may as well simplify things!  You can also include the info about your followng, blogging, and "like"ing in that same comment as well.
GOOD LUCK!
Please enter for each movie separately.  I am awesome, but let's not test the limits of my awesomeness, okay?

I'll leave this open until TUESDAY , NOVEMBER 23rd, 11:59 pm.  central time.  I will announce the winner next Wednesday.

Don't forget to sign up for my 12 Days of Christmas swap!  It's going to be legen- wait for it... DARY!

I Feel Like Vanna White!

I am having the most "blonde" day!  Okay, not just DAY...more like 24 hours.  At about 7 last night I realized I had completely spaced my parent/teacher conference with Bubble's teacher.  Today, I went to the school to volunteer, apologized profusely to his teacher, and went about my duties.  (Go ahead and laugh, Roon.  You know you want to...by the way, YOU'RE 32!)
When I reached Sissy's classroom around 2:00, I was greeted with a slightly less friendly than usual teacher, and the information that I had also forgotten my parent/teacher conference with HER at 12:45 (I was at the school the ENTIRE TIME!).  YIKES!  Twice in less than 2 days?!  That really isn't like me.  I must need a vacation.
Does that ever happen to anyone else?  I write things down on my calendar, but if it's something that involves something else already on my agenda...i.e. volunteering at the school, I get on auto pilot, and get distracted.  The rescheduled conferences are in my phone with alerts set...so with any luck it won't happen again.

So, now onto something I could NEVER forget about.
The winner of Quince Quote!
But, as always, before I announce the winner, I must reveal the answers.
THE MOVIE:

Character who spoke the quote:  Charlie Brown
Actor who played character:  Peter Robbins (for the record, I did give Mamarazzi credit for her guess at this, since she didn't try to Google it, his name was one of the two she guessed, and it was a tough one!)
Line Before:  "I got a quarter" or "I got a package of gum" or "I got a pack of gum"
Alternate quotes:  "I had a little trouble with the scissors."   "YOU OWE ME RESTITUTION!!!"

So, after the contest closed, the entries looked like this:
And...according to Random.org, the winner is:

Which means that MAMARAZZI is the winner!  Congratulations!  I still have your address...because I'm a stalker like that, so I'll get your package in the mail (AND Evelyn's, AND Emmy's from Symfully Sweet) by Friday...I hope.
Thanks to everyone who entered!

Bad Press, and Quince Quote FUN!!!

If you're my friend on Facebook, you've already had a taste of the crap that's been going on in my neck of the woods for the past 48 hours.  If you're not my Facebook friend, allow me to enlighten you.
Remember way back when, and a few times since, when I mentioned I was getting a new blog design for my birthday?
Well...that turned out to be a pipe dream.
My blog designer came to me highly recommended from Mamarazzi
I debated whether or not I should do a big, long ranty post about my horrible experience, but in the end, my logic took hold of my emotions, and I decided to be sensible about the whole thing.  So as not to be accused of public slander, I will not mention her name, link to her site, or share any of the details publicly.  Privately, on the other hand...is another story.  Let me know if you want the WHOLE STORY.  I will gladly share.
After 6 months of waiting, and finally reaching my breaking point, I resorted to doing something I don't very often allow myself to do.
I commited an EWI.  Emailing While Infuriated.  (Not to be confused with BWI...BLOGGING While Infuriated.)
This resulted in my inevitable demise.  This morning I was fired.  Well, technically she quit, but ya know.  Roon is kicking himself.  He, after all, could have done it all himself since he speaks fluent HTML, and was just trying to do something nice for my birthday.
The future of my blog design is in limbo right now.  I have contacted a custom designer that I LOVE, and have used before, and I am in the process of getting a quote from him now.  Once the terms have been set, I will most likely have the finished product in less than a month.  My last project from him took less than 2 weeks, start to finish.  Once I have that in hand, Roon will do all the necessary coding, button making, so on and so forth.
Frankly, I'm excited about this new development.  While I feel horrible for how everything played out, I am relieved to know that it's finally over with.  With Roon doing my install, I know it will work in ALL browsers, and there will be no more waiting for anything.  I love having a computer genius in the house!
If you would like more information...let me know.  I'd be happy to share privately.

Now, onto happier things!
Have you noticed what day it is?!
It's October 15th, and you know what that means...
QUINCE QUOTE!
Now, I'm a total slacker, and still haven't finished Evelyn's prize package from last month (You still love me, right?), but this month will be much faster moving.  Instead of leaving it open for 5 days, it will only be open for 3 whole days, so I can get the package(s) ready to ship out BEFORE I leave on my Spa Getaway vacation.
Yes, I am excited!
So...let's get right down to the nitty gritty, shall we?
WAIT!  I did want to mention that if you have already won in the past, you can enter again, and give me a different last name to use.  Could make an excellent Christmas gift...I'm just sayin'

This month's quote is:

"I got a rock."

Here are your chances to win:

5 Entries:  BLOG ABOUT MY GIVEAWAY!
3 Entries:  FOLLOW MY BLOG!  As always, if you are not a regular visitor, I must ask that you comment on at least one other post, to prove that you give a crap.  I will not guarantee that I will follow you back either.  I don't do that...
1 Entry:  NAME THAT MOVIE!!!  This may only be 1 entry, but you have to get it right to get credit for any other entries!
1 Entry:  NAME THE CHARACTER!
1 Entry:  NAME THE ACTOR WHO PLAYED THE CHARACTER!  (Or provided the voice)
1 Entry:  SUPPLY THE LINE DIRECTLY BEFORE, OR DIRECTLY AFTER THE QUOTE!
1 Entry:   DELIVER ANOTHER QUOTE!  This is unlimited, so feel free to list as many as you can think of!  Great way to get the edge on the competition!

You have until October 18th  at midnight central time to enter.  I will announce the winner on the19th.

PLEASE LEAVE ONE COMMENT PER ANSWER OR PER THING YOU DO.  I'll make Roon do the math...
Please email me the last name you want used in your prize package, whether it's for you, or for a gift.  It would help my creativity to have time to think about it...

GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE!

You're Not Cool...Unless You Knew This Quote!

It literally fills my heart with joy, that I was not the only woman who could quote this month's movie!  I'm sure that Roon also thanks you for proving him right...this time.
I did start to wonder after the quote was posted for 2 days, if I was going to have to just call it on account of lack of participation, and give Emmy the crown, but then Evelyn swooped in, and made it a fight to the finish.

Before we put these two awesome ladies out of their misery, let's go over the answers, shall we?

The Movie:

Character:  Billy Madison
Actor:  Adam Sandler
Line Before:  Ernie: "Cut it out dude your gonna get us in trouble."
Alternate Quotes:  There are so many that we use, but the ones we use most often are as follows...
"Don't tell me my business, Devil Woman!"
"If peeing your pants is cool, consider me, Miles Davis."
"Don't put it out with your boots, Ted."
"Nobody's gots to know about it, it can be our milk..."
"I can't hear you, I've been physically abused in the ear!"

"...At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. "

"A simple wrong would have done just fine."

Okay, seriously...I could go on, but those are used around here quite often.

So, when all the entries were in, it looked like this:

And, according to random.org, the winner is:
Which means that the winner is...EVELYN!!!  Congratulations girl!  I still have your address, so I will get your prize package in the mail ASAP.
Thanks so much for playing, ladies!

Quince Quote- Hang My Head in Shame Edition

I am just going to go ahead and apologize for this movie.  Roon made me do it.  I am ashamed to say how often we quote this particular movie, but I couldn't avoid it when Roon pointed out how perfect it would be to have this as my September movie.
So, there it is.  Please don't think any less of me...

This month's quote is:
 "T-T-T-TODAY JUNIOR!"

Wanna play?  Here are your chances for entries:

GOOD LUCK!!!

I also must ask that if giving any alternate quotes from the movie, please keep it clean.  This is a PG blog, so please change any inappropriate language to something a little cleaner.  THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!

And the Winner is...Susan Lucci!

It's that time of the month, where I have to break the hearts of a few contestants, in order to fill one heart with joy.
But I'll get to that in a minute.
First, the answers!
THE MOVIE:

CHARACTER:  MR. WELLING
ACTOR:  MEL BROOKS
LINE BEFORE:  "HEARD ENOUGH".
LINE AFTER:  "IF WE WERE YOUR KIDS, WE'D PUNISH OURSELVES!" (SAID BY STYMIE)

                           "Hey, you're mom's here!"  "Whoopi!"

So, when the polls closed, it looked like this:

And, as always, Random.org did the dirty work for me...

Which means that SHORTMAMA is the winner!  CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Hey, even Susan Lucci won eventually...
I still have your address from the post card thing, so only worry about sending me your address if it's different than what I already have, okay?  I hope to have both last month's and this month's prize packages in the mail on Monday.  Be on the lookout.
But now, the big question is...how to spread the word for future Quince Quotes.  I feel the creative wheels a' turnin'!
Thanks for playing, everyone!

Si Estás Feliz y Lo Sabes...

CLAP YOUR HANDS!

For those who didn't know, my title says "If you're happy and you know it..."

I'm linking up with Mamarazzi today, to share with you my Happy List

The first thing on my happy list this week, was the arrival of this:
24 tubes of Natural Ice!  Not only do I now have my favorite lip balm back, but I also have a spot in my linen closet that smells quite similar to a cough drop.  TOTALLY worth it, to be able to have this stuff!  LOVE IT!!!

Yesterday, I went to a baby shower for a friend of mine.  My favorite gift to give is a BIG basket full of baby essentials.  Usually, I fill the bottom of the basket with tissue paper to make it more attractive, but this time I had another thought.  I remembered when I WON THIS, and I wondered if I could make one similar...

Turns out, I can!

I wish now, that I would have looked back at my post about my winnings, because I actually had bought some ribbon to be able to put on it, I just couldn't remember exactly how it was supposed to go.  Silly me.  I think it turned out pretty cute though!  It was a hit at the party, and the mom to be LOVED IT.

The last thing on my happy list should actually be on all of YOUR happy lists as well...
IT'S QUINCE QUOTE TIME!!!

I'm actually holding my head in shame right now, because I still haven't put Teresa's winnings in the mail from last month...*blush* I blame the post trip fog, mixed with the getting ready for school to start chaos.

This month's quote is:
"If you were my kids, I'd punish you."

Here are your chances to win:

  1. BLOG ABOUT MY GIVEAWAY! (5 entries)- To receive entries for this, you must at least take a stab at which movie it came from. You are not required to get the answer right, just give it a shot.
  2. FOLLOW MY BLOG! (3 entries). This is a fairly new one. 3. CORRECTLY NAME THE MOVIE THE QUOTE CAME FROM!- 1 entry- This may only get you one entry, but it is REQUIRED to get entries for anything EXCEPT blogging about my giveaway.
  4. CORRECTLY GUESS THE CHARACTER WHO DELIVERED THE QUOTE!
  5. CORRECTLY NAME THE ACTOR/ACTRESS WHO PLAYED THE CHARACTER!
  6. SUPPLY LINE DELIVERED EITHER IMMEDIATELY BEFORE, OR IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE QUOTE!

I Hope You Weren't Holding Your Breath!

Well...you can't say I didn't warn you!
This month's Quince Quote closed 10 days ago.  10 DAYS!!!  I apologize for the delay.  Let's get down to business, shall we?!

THE MOVIE:

CHARACTER:  CC BLOOME
ACTRESS:  BETTE MIDLER
LINE FOLLOWING:  "I'M COUNTING ON IT" SAID BY HILARY
ALTERNATE QUOTE:  The one I use most often...is simply "You're the wind beneath my wings." which isn't even from the movie, but from the song.

Here's how the entries looked, when all was said and done:

And...according to Random.org, who does ALL my dirty work:

Which means, that TERESA is the winner!!!  CONGRATULATIONS!!!  Send me an email with your current address, and I will get your prize package in the mail ASAP.

On a side note:  I think random.org must have it in for Shortmama.  Can't the girl catch a break?!

So...now onto the fun stuff.

ROON WAS WRONG!!!

Thank you all so much for helping me to prove my husband wrong!
When Roon first read my latest Quince Quote post, he laughed, and openly doubted that anyone would enter.  "Is anyone even going to know this quote?" and "Who would want that movie?" are just a couple of the snarky comments that escaped his cynical lips.

Thankfully, you all are fabulous, and proved to my husband that my taste in movies is excellent.  Thank you very much!

Answers first:

THE MOVIE:

CHARACTER WHO DELIVERED THE QUOTE:  Leonardo DaVinci

ACTOR WHO PLAYED CHARACTER:  Patrick Godfrey

LINE DELIVERED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE:  "Why, that was pure genius!"

LINE DELIVERED IMMEDIATELY AFTER:  "Gustave!"

OTHER QUOTES:  "Of course not, mother.  I'm only here for the food."

You all did such a good job of naming some of my favorite quotes, that my list of extra quotes is awefully short this time around.  GOOD JOB!!!

So, when all was said and done, the list of entries looked like this:

This was the most entries, I've ever had!  Makes me sad I can't afford to give more than one prize!  Unfortunately, I can only afford one, so I let Random.org do the dirty work...

This means that the winner is CJ!!!  Congratulations, Mrs. Simonson "spelled with a Q"!  Shoot me an email with your address, and I'll get this in the mail ASAP.

Thanks to everyone who entered!  I hope you'll all try again next month!

Vamos a la Cine!

Hola, mis amigos, y bienvenidos a mi blog!

So, you all know what it means when I speak very poorly in broken spanish, right?!

IT"S QUINCE QUOTE* TIME!!!

But first, let's all take a moment to remind ourselves of the FABULOUS prizes that await you if you should step up to the plate (and outsmarted the competition), shall we?
Heather, Myya, and most recently MiMi were all extremely happy that they took the time to enter.

The quote this month is:

"Yes.  I shall go down in history as the man who opened a door!"

Here are your chances to enter:
However, if you want entries for following, and you are not one of my regular visitors, I am going to have to ask that you read and comment on at least one other blog entry of mine.  This way, I know you also want to be bloggy friends, and aren't just cruisin' for some free stuff.  Sounds fair, right?
  7. QUOTE ANOTHER LINE FROM THE MOVIE!-  If you make me laugh, you automatically get a BONUS entry!  This is unlimited, so if you know the movie well, you could really blow everyone else away!
PLEASE LEAVE 1 COMMENT PER EACH THING YOU DO, OR PER EACH QUESTION YOU ANSWER.  I WILL DO THE MATH.  I'M NOT GOOD AT IT, BUT I'LL DO IT FOR YOU!

You have until June 20th, at 11:59 pm central time to get your entries in.  Winner will be announced on the 21st.

If you've won in the past, I've got more tricks up my sleeve, so you can surely enter again, without feeling like you're going to get a carbon copy of your original prize.  You should know, I'm much too clever for that!

*For those of you who are new to my blog, I call it "Quince Quote" because I post this giveaway on the 15th of every month.  Since Quince is spanish for 15, and it alliterates well with "Quote" I went with it.  This is just the beginning of my cleverness!  Be prepared to be amazed!

And The Winner Is...

It was a really close contest this month.  There were only two participants, but they both did such a good job of either knowing or Googling the information required.  Great job ladies!  And, thanks for playing!  Before I announce the winner, I will go over the answers with you.

What better way to kick off the summer, than with this movie:

Character who spoke the quote:  Michael "Squints" Palledorous (yes, I counted it if you just said "Squints")

Actor who played the character:  Chauncey Leopardi

Line delivered immediately before/after:  "What's wrong with him? - What's he doing?"  (Not quite sure who said it, there was a bunch of chaos with them all in the pool, but this was said AFTER the quote)
"She knows exactly what she's doing" (Again, I'm not quite sure who said it, but I THINK it's Squints.  This was said BEFORE the quote).

Other memorable quotes:  "You're killin' me Smalls!"  Said by Ham, no fewer than 4 times throughout the movie.  This is the line I say most often in my day to day life.

"If I had a dog, as ugly as you...I'd shave his butt, and make him walk backwards" said by Ham.

"He's an L-7 wienie!"  said by Squints.

"FOR-E-VER" (repeated over and over, in slow motion)...said by Squints.  (We also use this one quite regularly.)

Alright, enough of that...

When all was said and done, the list looked like this:

According to Random.org, the winner is...

Which means that MIMI is the winner!!!  Congrats girl!  Email me your address, or Facebook it to me...whatever suits your fancy, and I'll get your amazing prize package shipped early next week.

Next Quince Quote is going to be posted on June 15th, but in addition, I have a new giveaway/contest starting up June 1st, and extending to the end of June.  You're gonna wanna play...trust me!

QUINCE DE MAYO!!!

If you thought the only thing to celebrate during the month of May, was Cinco de Mayo, you would be wrong.  There's also Quince de Mayo!  Okay, if you are keeping score, there would also be Mother's day.  And, if you are me, there is also a plethera of family birthdays, anniversaries, not to mention my best friend Lady's birthday too.  But, most importantly, it is time for my next Quince Quote!

I will pause while you all do the dance of joy...

Done?  Good.

Before I give you the next quote, allow me a moment to entice you to enter this time.  I promise...you will not regret it!  Need proof?  Myya was ecstatic with her prize, and Heather couldn't have been happier with hers either.  Still not convinced it's a contest worth entering?  Well...I don't know what else to say.  They have pills for that kind of crazy!

Alright, I've put this off long enough...
Without further ado, here is this month's Quince Quote:

"I've been coming here every summer of my adult life, and every summer there she is oiling and lotioning, lotioning and oiling... smiling. I can't take this no more!"

Now, here are your chances for winning:

  1. Blog about my giveaway.  This will now earn you 2 entries!  You don't even have to guess the quote right!  I just need to get some more people interested, or I'll end up cycling through each and every one of my regular readers, several times over.
  2. NEW!!!  Follow my blog!  Now, I'm not one of those people who wants a ton of followers.  I mean, they're nice, but I really want people to follow me who would love to get to know me, and become bloggy friends.  Therefore, I am adding a stipulation to this one.  IF you are not one of my regular commenters, and you begin following me to get an entry, you now have to read at least one other post of mine, and comment on it.  This will prove that you actually give 2 figs, before I spend my time and money making you a CUSTOM prize package.  Got it?  Good.
  3. CORRECTLY guess the movie the aforementioned quote came from.  If you're right, you have an entry.  This is what GOOGLE was made for, people!
  4.  Name the character who delivered the quote.
  5. Name the actor/actress who played the character who delivered the quote.  Again, this is what Google was made for, people!
  6. Name the line delivered either directly before or after the quote.
  7. Name another memorable quote from the same movie.  If you make me laugh, I'll throw in a BONUS entry!  This is unlimited, so now's the time to prove you know your stuff!
There you go!  Please leave a comment on THIS POST for each of the 7 things.  I'm no mathmetician, and I'm easily confused.  Don't let the prize go to someone else because I spotted something shiny, please!
You have until Thursday, May 20, 2010 at midnight central time, and I will announce the winner on the 21st.  It could be you!  Or you.  Or you...who knows?!

THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.  THANKS SO MUCH FOR PLAYING!

The Rumble Up North

I know that gambling is wrong.  However, when I saw my two contestants for Quince Quote this month, part of me was tempted to mail the prize to a neutral location up in Lebanon, Oregon, and take bets on which of the contestants would make it to the location first.  But, since MiMi and Myya are two of my favorite people, and I wouldn't actually want to do anything that would come between their real life friendship, I let Random.org do my dirty work.
But first, let's go over the answers...shall we?

THE MOVIE:

CHARACTER WHO SPOKE THE QUOTE:  Ouiser Boudreaux

ACTRESS WHO PLAYED CHARACTER:  Shirley Maclaine

LINE DELIVERED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE QUOTE:  "Oh Ouiser.  Drum would never point a gun at a lady!"

Both of the ladies did an awesome job of naming some of my favorite quotes, and both succeeded in making me laugh, so MiMi got one additional entry, and Myya got 2 additional entries.  Other quotes that could have made me laugh could have included...

"Not on your first visit!"-spoken by Annelle
"I'd rather eat dirt"-Spoken by Sammy
"M'Lynn, you just missed the chance of a lifetime! Half o' Chiquapin Parish'd give their eye teeth to take a whack at Ouiser!"-spoken by Clairee

The list could go on and on.  I LOVE THIS MOVIE!  But I'll stop there.
When all was said and done, with the extra entries, there were 11 total.  According to Random.org, number 4 was the winner, with means that Myya wins!  Congrats girl!  Email me your address, so I can get this out to you by next week  Thanks for playing guys!
